Overview
A hole-in-the-wall - for aristocracy
Just 2-hour travel from central Tokyo, Musashino bekkan is located in a quiet valley of Miyanoshita where you can enjoy the grand view of Hakone mountains.
This small, quiet Ryokan hosts 20 rooms.
Once you step into the Ryokan, you're transported 300 years into the past. The feel of the tatami mats against your feet is with you wherever you go. The faint fragrance of incense pervades the Ryokan - even in the elevator.
The rooms are so spacious that you can enjoy the food and relax in separate spaces. Each room comes with a private bath made of fragrant Japanese cypress open-air one in the suite room. The Kotatsu - a table which is a low table with a quilt underneath the table often with a heater built-in, allows you to enjoy the space in winter, too.
The best part is the natural hot spring baths.
Musashino Bekkan offers a variety of open-air and private baths. The fragrant cypress, the rhythmic beat of the pouring water, the mist from the hot, mineral rich water provides a sensory experience that's hard to find - even in other Ryokan.
A unique feature of this Ryokan is the small bar, "Yoigetsu-tei". You can enjoy their cold "Sarari tea", Sake, and other refreshments after your hot-spring bath.
Be sure to come hungry. Their Kaiseki dishes host good portions, filled with healthy and very tasty food. Their breakfast of rice porridge, simmered tofu and vegetables will help your stomach recoup after the feast from the previous night.
Enjoy this secret off the beaten path - you'll thank us for it.
